The Africa Mission was launched in 2018, when our assistant pastor, Rev. Christo Heiberg, was set apart for mission work in addition to his pastoral calling in Providence. His work consists of writing projects, on-line Bible Studies, networking with African Church leaders and (occasionally) raising funds for a worthy project, all of which can be done from home. Since 2020 Pastor Christo has also been doing teaching, preaching and pastoral visiting at a church-plant for African immigrants in London, Ontario.

In addition to this he also strives to visit the continent twice per year (for a total of ten weeks) for the purpose of teaching and equipping church leadership, and preaching the Gospel. Over the last few years his mission-focus has shifted toward the reality of the mounting collision between worldviews, and how Christianity can prevail against the daunting challenge of an adversarial ideology. This has brought him into closer contact with the persecuted church, compelling much of his attention and time. He wants to limit his involvement to Eastern and Southern Africa, where English is generally a second language.

Providence Community Church has complete direction and control over the use of all donated funds to the African Mission, and the Africa Mission Board reports to the elders on a regular basis. Supporters of the Africa Mission may expect an update by way of a newsletter twice a year.

Donations to the Africa Mission can be made in one of three ways.

• By way of a cheque, which should be made out to Providence Community Church.
